Birdon hosts the Mayor of Denver

Birdon had the pleasure of hosting the Mayor of Denver, Michael Hancock in Sydney last week. Hancock was accompanied by officials and staff from City of Denver who were visiting Australia as part of their economic development and retention visit.

Birdon showcased some of the projects we’ve been working on in Sydney Harbour. This included the dredging works at Garden Island, the many new ferry wharves we have built for RMS and the most recent addition to the Harbour, the On Demand Ferry built by Birdon which begins trials this month.

While in Australia, the Mayor was meeting with a number of businesses considering a base in Denver to discuss partnerships between business groups and government. There is a growing number of Australian businesses setting up in the US, with many choosing Denver, Colorado as a base. Birdon is amongst these Australian businesses, having set up our first facility in Denver in 2014 after the award of the BEB contract with the US Army. One of the main reasons Birdon chose to establish a presence in Denver was because of the support we received from the City of Denver.

Over the last five years this support has helped us to build and maintain a strong local workforce in the area. Birdon America Inc. continues to grow, having recently expanded into a second facility in Denver to complement our existing base and to make room for the projects we have in the pipeline.

A very exciting time to be in business in Denver, and great to work closely with City of Denver so we can continue to make it happen.
