Birdon has experienced significant growth over the last decade and has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic experienced full-time fabricator to join our team. The position is based in Dampier, WA, and is a residential position (employee required to live locally). Project work includes vessel refurbishment, maintenance, and disposal.
In this role, responsibilities include:
- Fabrication, welding, and repair of metal structures (both steel and aluminium)
- Steel welding and fabrication (marine projects)
- Aluminium welding and fabrication (marine projects)
- Understanding and interpreting drawings and specifications
- Diagnosing issues and performing maintenance and repairs as directed by Supervisor within worker’s capability
- Ensuring work is conducted according to quality system processes and any Inspection Test Plans (ITP)
- Maintaining a clean, tidy, productive work environment
- Active participation in daily toolbox talks
- Working harmoniously with team and other Birdon employees and contractors
- Performing all duties to a high quality in a timely, efficient, and safe manner
To be successful in this role you will need:
- Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade or equivalent
- Minimum three (3) years’ experience in relevant trade background
- Experience in aluminium and steel fabrication in the marine and defence industries
- Ability to understand and interpret drawings and specifications
- Nationally accredited General Construction Induction (white card)
- High Risk Work (HRW) Licence (forklift minimum)
- First aid training
- Current driver’s licence
- Strong safety awareness
- High attention to detail
