Birdon is a diversified global group of companies providing whole of life solutions to the maritime, military & resource sectors with its head office based in Port Macquarie. The business has experienced significant growth over the last decade and has an exciting opportunity for a motivated Marketing & Communications professional to join the team.

This position reports to the Managing Director and is part of a dedicated team committed to the success of a proudly Australian owned business.  The role contributes significantly to Birdon’s contracting success through the development of strategically aligned and impactful communications material. The role will focus on growing Birdon’s brand recognition in key market segments.

The Marketing & Communications Manager is responsible for delivering internal and external communications and marketing campaigns.  You will work closely with the Senior Leadership team to develop marketing and communications content, which will support individual tender responses and underpin all communication platforms.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Manage and coordinate marketing priorities to support the achievement of business targets.
  • Create dynamic, engaging and authentic content for internal and external audiences across a number of channels including social media, email, and website.
  • Participate and contribute to project-by-project bid strategies and win themes and provide content as required.
  • Develop content for strategic campaigns and initiatives, including community engagement, to support business opportunities and tender responses.
  • Track, analyse and report on social media and content performance/metrics to continually improve reach and engagement of content.
  • Manage and continually develop Birdon’s corporate image library.
  • Work closely with Operating business units ensuring their involvement in marketing and communications content.
  • Maintain an active interest in industry trends and competitor activity.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Appropriate tertiary qualifications in Marketing, Communications, or related discipline.
  • 3- 5 years’ experience in similar role.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, as well as organisational, time management and planning skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Team player and ability to build and maintain working relationships with executive managers, peers, customers and suppliers.
  • Computer skills – Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, and Project.
  • Desktop publishing and graphic design skills. Experience with InDesign would be an advantage.
  • Ability to work effectively towards multiple, sometimes conflicting deadlines.
  • Experience in Marine, Defence or Construction sector contracting environment would be highly regarded but not essential.

This is a permanent position with an immediate start.  We can provide flexibility around days and hours per week.
